Azle City Council recently voted to deny Oncor Electric Delivery’s proposed rate increase — a move that is expected to save customers roughly $100 per year.
Earlier this summer, Oncor filed an application with the city of Azle, seeking to increase system-wide transmission and distribution by about $834 million or approximately 13% over present revenues.
According to Assistant City Manager Amber Beard, this proposed rate increase would have resulted in a 12.3% increase in the residential rate and a 51% increase in street lighting rates — meaning customers would have paid an additional $7.90 per month, or around $95 per year, under the change.
