The Azle Hornets dismantled the Granbury Pirates 35-13 last Friday night in front of a packed homecoming crowd at Hornet Field. Azle controlled the game through the air and on the ground, piling up 186 passing yards and 176 rushing yards in the convincing district win.
Sophomore running back King Stephens continued his breakout season, rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries while adding two receptions for 64 yards, including a dazzling 60-yard touchdown catch. Senior wide receiver Aiden Mackey was equally impressive, hauling in seven passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
Quarterback Derrek Vowell turned in an efficient performance, completing 14 of 19 passes for 186 yards and four touchdowns, spreading the ball effectively throughout the Hornet offense.
