Neri qualifies for state, Azle cross-country finishes strong at regionals
Azle standout freshman Jazmin Neri qualified for the state cross-country meet after placing third at the Region 1 championship.

The Azle High School cross-country teams made their mark at the Region 1 Cross-Country Meet Monday, Oct. 20 with standout performances from both squads and a state-qualifying run from freshman sensation Jazmin Neri.

Neri finished third overall in the girls 5K race at Lubbock’s Mae Simmons Park, earning a trip to the 2025 UIL State Cross-Country Meet later this month. Her impressive third place finish capped off a season filled with consistency and grit.

The Lady Hornets narrowly missed advancing as a team, finishing fifth overall — just one spot shy of the top four teams that move on to state. Meanwhile, the Azle boys team ran strong in a deep regional field, placing sixth overall in the Region 1 standings.
