The Azle Lady Hornets volleyball team capped off a historic week with two key district wins, securing the No. 1 seed in the Class 5A Division II playoff bracket and setting a new program record for single-season victories.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, Azle traveled to Brewer and hurt the Bears’ playoff hopes with a 3–1 victory. The Lady Hornets, already playoff-bound, controlled the match from start to finish to lock in the top postseason seed.
Then on homecoming night, Friday, Oct. 24, Azle continued its dominant run by sweeping Granbury in three straight sets. Several Hornets turned in standout performances: Jacqui McClain tallied nine kills, 14 digs and two blocks; Tori Moore added six kills; Kami Swain recorded five kills; Miley Massey and Sophie Weger combined for 27 assists; and defensive specialists Macie Baker and Paisley Jeter notched 25 and 14 digs, respectively.
