One of Azle’s busiest intersections will be getting a complete landscape makeover, as the city prepares to bring new life — and new greenery — to the intersection of State Highway 199 and Boyd Road.
Earlier this summer, the city received notice of a grant award for the FY2026 Green Ribbon program. Through the Texas Department of Transportation, the Green Ribbon program allows entities to complete landscape enhancement projects within TxDOT’s rights-of-way.
For this project, the intersection of SH 199 and Boyd Road will receive planting enhancements featuring native and near-native species such as shrubs, grasses and small trees. In addition to the plantings, aggregate mulch will be incorporated into the design to help manage runoff and promote stability.
