Cooper Womack, Aaron Stapleton, Layten O’Gorman and Tucker Merck may only be sophomores at Azle High School, but they already know their way around a complicated piece of machinery — a hydraulic cylinder.

While most adults wouldn’t know the first thing about rebuilding one, the four members of Azle FFA’s Greenhand Skills team exuded confidence and firsthand knowledge as they demonstrated the process during the Azle Rotary Club meeting Oct. 30.

The group, guided by ag teacher Brad Merck, performed the demonstration to prepare for their Leadership Development Event district competition coming up Nov. 11. LDE competitions are held in the fall, with categories ranging from public speaking and agribusiness management to floriculture and livestock evaluation.
