Azle freshman sensation Jazmin Neri wrapped up her breakout cross-country season with an impressive 12th-place finish at the UIL Class 5A State Cross Country Meet Halloween morning.
Neri lined up with 100 of the top runners from across Texas in the girls’ 5A 5K race. She crossed the finish line in 18:28.8 — not her season best, but strong enough to secure a top-15 finish in her first appearance at state.
The standout ninth grader capped a remarkable debut season that firmly established her as one of the top young distance runners in the state. Azle cross-country will return a proven state competitor in 2026, and Neri’s performance sets a high bar for seasons to come.
