The Azle Lady Hornets entered their bi-district showdown with Grapevine confident and carrying the higher seed, but their postseason run came to a heart-stopping close Monday night in a five-set thriller at Keller Central High School. The Lady Mustangs edged Azle 25-20, 17-25, 25-23, 16-25, 15-8 in front of a packed and energetic gym.
The match swung back and forth as both teams traded momentum, delivering powerful rallies and clutch plays that kept fans on their feet from start to finish.
For Azle’s nine seniors, the loss marked the end of their high school volleyball careers, a moment filled with emotion and pride. Several will continue their careers at the collegiate level, but the abrupt end to a memorable season stung deeply.
