The Azle Hornets faced the number 1 ranked 5A team in the state and one of the state's perennial powerhouses on Halloween night, falling to the Aledo Bearcats 73-0 in district play. The Bearcats remain among Texas high school football’s elite. The number 1 ranked Bearcats have not lost a district game in 18 years.
Despite the tough outing, the Hornets found a bright spot in sophomore running back King Stephens, who continued his strong season by grinding out 139 hard-earned rushing yards against one of the toughest defenses in Class 5A.
Azle moved the ball on multiple drives behind Stephens’ effort and steady offensive line play, but the Bearcats’ depth and explosive playmaking ultimately proved too much.
