The voters have spoken, and now Lakeside residents will officially receive fire and emergency services from a new source — Tarrant County Emergency Services District No. 1.
According to the Tarrant County election results, the ballot measure asking members of ESD 1 to approve Lakeside’s annexation into the district received strong support from voters, with 6,475 (84.98%) voting in favor and 1,144 (15.02%) voting against. The second ballot measure, which specifically asked if Lakeside voters wished to join the district, also passed with 177 (54.97%) voting in support and 145 (45.03%) voting in opposition.
Norman Craven, town secretary and administrator for the city of Lakeside, said for the last 25 years, the city has contracted with Lake Worth for fire services and MedStar for ambulance services — until now.
