Teamwork really does make the dream work — at least, that was the case for Community Waste Disposal, the city of Azle and Servolution Network when all three recently received a national award.

According to CWD Municipal Coordinator Robert Medigovich, the Private Partnership Prestige Award was given to the three partners by the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association for their innovative and sustainable Re-Mix Paint program.

Since the city of Azle hosts household hazardous waste collection events twice a year, Medigovich said it was former Mayor Alan Brundrett’s idea for CWD to collect the used paint and recycle it into CWD’s own Re-Mix Paint. The paint is then used for Servolution’s Good Neighbor program, where volunteers spend their time restoring homes in the community for elderly, low-income or disabled homeowners.
