After several arrests and missed court dates, a Springtown resident was served the maximum sentence of 20 years in prison by 43rd District Judge Craig Towson Thursday, Nov. 13.

During his trial, prosecutors presented a video from May 2023 depicting Buddy Ray Herrell, age 33, selling 2.8 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover officer with the Parker County Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Unit.

While a maximum sentence may seem extreme for a man with no prior felony convictions, his multiple arrests and evasions from law enforcement — once on foot and another on a motorcycle — left little for the jury to deliberate.
