As groundwater fees and wastewater treatment charges continue to rise for the city of Pelican Bay exponentially, city officials are now planning to make the difficult decision to raise water and sewer rates in the coming months.

During a regular Pelican Bay City Council meeting Nov. 12, Mayor Tamra Olague told council that water production fee rates were recently adopted by the board of directors of the Northern Trinity Groundwater Conservation District — a move that will increase the groundwater use fee rate by half a cent.
