Donna man sentenced to 20 years for intoxication manslaughter

A man who caused an accident that killed a 23-year-old man and seriously injured that man’s mother in 2019 has finally been brought to justice.

Juan Antonio Sauceda Jr of Donna entered a guilty plea to both felony charges Monday, Nov. 17 and elected to have a jury assess his punishment. The jury, after considering the facts presented to it, sentenced Sauceda Thursday, Nov. 20 to the maximum sentences allowed by law: 20 years for intoxication manslaughter and 10 years for intoxication assault.

The case stemmed from a collision on Interstate 20 westbound Dec. 17, 2019, in an area where traffic came to a near standstill due to nighttime construction.
