Upward Sports, the world’s largest Christian youth sports organization, has spent more than 20 years using athletics to share the gospel and build community. In Azle, that mission remains strong as the First United Methodist Church celebrates its 20th year sponsoring Upward Basketball and Cheerleading.
To recognize the milestone, Upward Sports is sending the church a commemorative banner to unveil on opening weekend.
Scott Arnold, who has directed the Azle program for the past decade, said the church is grateful for the families who return each year and for the opportunity to continue offering a positive, faith-centered sports experience.
