Four Azle nonprofits are heading into the holidays with a welcome surprise: a generous donation from the First Methodist Church of Azle.

On Dec. 11, Large Events Chair Jeff Mahlmann presented four checks to representatives from Safe Harbor Counseling Center, the Community Caring Center, Eagle Mountain Pregnancy Center and the Good N.E.W.S. Living at Home/Block Nurse Program. Each organization received a little more than $4,000 each, with the combined donations totaling $17,520.12.

While this donation is an annual gift the church bestows upon the nonprofits every year, Mahlmann said this year’s contribution was extra special — especially because it exceeded last year’s total.
