Azle Independent School District students and parents will have to wake up a tad earlier than normal starting next school year.

During the AISD board of trustees meeting Dec. 16, members unanimously approved the 2026-27 academic calendar, which adds 10 minutes to the start of each school day.

Superintendent Todd Smith first spoke about the possibility of this change during the November school board meeting when he explained that the district leadership team had come up with two academic calendars: one similar to last year’s calendar and one that would add 10 minutes to the day.
