The city of Reno held a budget workshop Monday, Dec. 8 to review its budgets for fiscal years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 followed by a regular city council meeting.

During the budget workshop, city council members discussed the short-term cash flow issues caused largely by the timing of property tax payments. The city expects revenue to increase early next year as more residents pay their taxes.

“We’re a little behind as far as property tax revenue, but most people wait until January before they pay their tax bill,” City Administrator Paul Lilly said. “I suspect in January and February the income will increase dramatically.”
