Walnut Creek Special Utility District’s board room was crowded with anticipation and attendees Monday, Dec. 15, as a decision was made regarding a long-awaited interlocal agreement.

After a period of uncertainty about whether to follow in the footsteps of other adjoining cities to become members of the newly created West Fork Public Utility Agency, WCSUD board members finally voted to join WFPUA. The resolution comes months after residents have voiced concerns over matters such as increased costs for current customers, funding contributions, water sourcing and fairness in representation — should the union come to fruition.

During general session, local resident and self-appointed community representative Jane Galvin approached the board to address just these concerns.
