Lady Hornets battle top competition in Oklahoma
Freshman Zaylyn Woods kept her undefeated freshman campaign alive at the Wrestle Like a Girl Tournament going 5-0.

The Azle Lady Hornet wrestlers traveled north to Cache, Oklahoma for the Wrestle Like a Girl Tournament Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12–13 and returned home with a third-place team finish against a strong field from Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas.

Azle showed depth across multiple weight classes, led by freshman Zaylyn Woods, who kept her perfect run intact by going 5-0 over the two-day event. Top-ranked Noah Kovach finished runner-up in her bracket, falling in the finals to the reigning Oklahoma Class 6A state champion.

Sixteenth-ranked Kenzie Harris also earned a second-place finish in her weight class, while fellow freshman Sage Mosier added to the team score with a third-place medal. No. 2-ranked Elly Yelle rounded out the podium finishes for Azle with a third-place showing of her own.
