The Azle Hornets continued to stack quality performances as they prepare for district play, posting a pair of 2–2 tournament finishes and cruising to a decisive home win last week.
Azle went 2–2 at the Charley’s Classic in Venus Dec. 4–6, opening the tournament with a 51–41 win over Waxahachie Life before knocking off Life Oak Cliff. The Hornets were slowed by Fort Worth Country Day in a 48–40 loss but bounced back in the finale with a 55–45 victory over Polytechnic.
Back home Tuesday, Dec. 9, the Hornets welcomed South Hills to the Hornet Gym for senior night. Head coach James Crafton recognized his seniors and their parents prior to tipoff, then watched his team race out to a 22–12 first-quarter lead and never look back in an 80–36 win.
