A new grade level won’t be the only change awaiting some Azle Independent School District students next year, as many will be attending an entirely different campus — sooner than initially expected.
The AISD board of trustees unanimously approved changes to the attendance zone boundaries for the 2026-27 academic year during a regular meeting Dec. 15. These changes are a result of the district’s campus realignment plans, which will officially go into effect at the elementary and junior high levels starting next year.
According to Assistant Superintendent Jessica Hanson, beginning in the 2026–27 school year, all eight of AISD’s elementary campuses will expand to serve students in pre-K through fifth grade, while junior high schools will include grades sixth through eighth instead of stopping at seventh grade.
