Azle High School is back on top with the Texas Education Agency after resolving a security gap that was identified during a routine intruder audit in November.

Darren Brockway, chief of police for the Azle Independent School District, informed the board of trustees Dec. 15 the district-wide audit found a minor security breach in the doors of the two-story storm shelter at AHS.

“Those (doors) are four to five inches of solid steel, heavy doors,” Brockway said. “On Nov. 20, TEA was there doing an audit and found that door unlocked and (they) opened it. Of course, anytime we do that, we do an investigation and find out the cause.”
