Azle wrestlers honor longtime official ahead of dual

The Azle wrestling program took time Wednesday, Dec. 17, to recognize longtime wrestling official Randy Ellenbecker for more than 50 years of service to the sport.

Ellenbecker, who will retire this year, was honored prior to the Hornets’ dual as a show of appreciation for his decades-long commitment to wrestling at the youth, high school and collegiate levels.

Ellenbecker began his officiating career in 1975 and has spent the past five decades serving the sport with a reputation for fairness, integrity and dedication. In addition to his work as an official, he has also been involved in wrestling as an athlete and coach.
