The Azle Hornets delivered a historic performance Dec. 19–20 at the Bring the Hammer Wrestling Tournament, with the Lady Hornets claiming the program’s first-ever team championship and the boys finishing as tournament runner-up.

The annual Bring the Hammer tournament, held in Cabot, is the largest wrestling event in Arkansas and featured 56 boys and girls teams from Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Texas and Tennessee.

Azle’s girls were led by junior Noah Kovach, who continued her dominant run by winning the 100-pound weight class. Fresh off her 100th career victory, Kovach earned her third consecutive Bring the Hammer title. Kenzie Harris captured gold at 125 pounds, while freshman Zaylyn Woods remained undefeated on the season with a first-place finish at 130 pounds. Elly Yelle also stood atop the podium, winning gold for the second straight year.
