The Azle boys and girls basketball teams opened a stretch of shared district opponents Friday, Dec. 19, with a road trip to Saginaw, where the boys earned a district-opening win while the girls came up short.
The Azle Hornet boys defeated the Saginaw Roughriders 67-52 to begin district play 1-0. The Lady Hornets, playing their third district game of the season, fell 50-27.
Azle’s boys were led by Bryce Robinson, who poured in 23 points while going a perfect 9-for-9 from the field. Cason Cook added 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting and dished out four assists, while Kobie Torgesen chipped in seven points off the bench.
