Hornet alums shine on college football’s big stage
Former Azle Hornets Eric McAlister and Ken Seals lead TCU to an Alamo Bowl Victory.

Former Azle ISD standouts Eric McAlister and Ken Seals delivered on a national stage Tuesday night, Dec. 30, helping Texas Christian University rally past the University of Southern California Trojans 30-27 in overtime in the Alamo Bowl.

McAlister, a 2021 Azle High School graduate, continued a breakout season for the Horned Frogs. The wide receiver, who began his college career at Boise State before transferring to TCU for the 2024 season, caught eight passes for 69 yards against USC. He finished the year with 72 receptions for 1,190 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Azle native returned home this summer as a special guest at the Azle TD Club football camp, emphasizing his commitment to giving back. “It’s pretty exciting for me to come here and be around the kids that look up to me,” McAlister said. “I always wanted to give back to my town. I couldn’t do that all the way in Boise, Idaho, so I came back home to TCU. I love doing camps like this.”
