The Azle boys basketball team split a pair of games over the holiday break, dropping a hard-fought home contest before bouncing back with a road victory.
The Hornets fell to Everman 60-49 Dec. 30 at home but responded Jan. 2 with a 55-41 win at Joshua to improve to 13-9 overall and 1-0 in district play.
In the loss to Everman, junior Cason Cook led Azle with 16 points. Senior Jayden Taylor added 13 points, while senior Bryce Robinson chipped in 12 as the Hornets stayed competitive throughout.
