The Azle wrestling program has produced its share of state champions, but brothers Chase and Tyler Yancey are pushing the standard even higher.
The Yancey brothers are both ranked No. 1 in the state in their respective weight classes and have established themselves as the leaders of the Azle boys wrestling program. Chase, a senior, is a three-time district champion, a two-time state qualifier and currently undefeated at 31-0 this season. Tyler, a sophomore, finished second at the state tournament a year ago and is also unbeaten at 32-0.
“These two are black shirts in our program,” Azle boys head wrestling coach Tyler Harrison said. “That means they are recognized for setting the standard of what it means to be a Hornet wrestler.”
