Tom Muir will soon be trading in council meetings at City Hall for tee time on the putting green, as the Azle city manager gears up for his upcoming retirement in May.

Muir — who has served the city of Azle for almost exactly 10 years at the time this article was written — told The Azle News Jan. 8 about his intention to turn in his keys and spend some quality time with his grandchildren.

“It’s time,” Muir said. “My son and I have a ranch outside of Hamilton. He’s in the military and he’s going to be retiring in a little over a year, and he’s going to start building a house. He’s got some acreage and I bought acreage next to him … He and his wife have our only grandkids, so that’s initially what we’ll be doing is trying to get involved with our grandkids.”
