The Hornets Azle opened the Springtown Invitational Soccer Tournament with an impressive showing, rolling through the first three matches of the tournament before finishing as runner-up.
The Hornets began play Thursday, Jan. 8, with a 2-0 victory over Burkburnett. Freshman Preston Baucom and Kooper Daniels each found the back of the net as Azle controlled play from start to finish.
That win advanced Azle to a matchup with Collegiate Academy, where the Hornets surged offensively. Baucom continued his standout tournament with a hat trick, scoring three goals, while Miguel Maldonado and Tyler Diffie each added one in the lopsided win.
