The Azle girls soccer team stormed through the field to claim the Bear Cave Classic championship Jan. 8–10 at Brewer High School.
The Lady Hornets opened the tournament with a convincing 4-1 win over Trimble Tech Thursday, battled to a scoreless draw with a tough Mineral Wells team Friday, then turned up the intensity Saturday with a 1-0 shutout of Benbrook before edging Rock Hill 6-5 in a dramatic penalty-kick shootout in the final.
“We put in the work to ensure we didn’t leave empty-handed,” head coach Marisa Flowers said. “It was a massive weekend for the entire program.”
