All signs point to a potential ordinance change for the city of Azle after officials launched a discussion Jan. 6 addressing the many real estate directional signs that are constantly placed in the city’s rights-of-way.
While the initial agenda item was tabled from the Azle City Council’s meeting Dec. 16 due to the absence of a few council members, Mayor Randa Goode chose to revisit the topic this month to address appearance concerns related to the signs.
“What our current ordinance states regarding those temporary real estate directional signs is 50 signs per builder where it is allowed, so it could be on one corner and it could be spread out within three corners or 10 corners,” Goode said. “We don’t allow citizens to put up garage sale signs because they leave them out and they look trashy, but then we’re allowing these home builders to do it, and I just think it needs to be across the board.”
