Azle JV Cheer made school history Thursday, Jan. 23, winning the National Cheerleaders Association’s High School National Championship and earning the Best Technique Award at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
The title marks the first-ever national championship for Azle Cheer, capping an undefeated competition season for the JV squad.
Head coach Taylor Hodges said the accomplishment reflects months of preparation and consistency.
Azle JV Cheer’s perfect season included an NCA regional championship, an NCA state championship — highlighted by the Herkie High Point Award — and the ultimate prize, the NCA national championship. In the finals the Hornets defeated Flower Mound Marcus, Arlington Heights and Aledo to capture the title.
The Lady Hornets’ performance at nationals showcased sharp execution, clean skills and elite technique, setting them apart from the competition and cementing their place in Azle athletics history.
With the national title secured, Azle JV Cheer closes the season unbeaten and as the standard-bearer for the program’s future.
