For Dena Hall, Azle has always been her hometown. Hall was born and raised in Azle, and while she was growing up, her father, Waymon Wright, was involved in the community. Hall ultimately followed in her father’s footsteps and has been volunteering in the community for years.

“My dad was involved and I didn't really understand it until I got older, and it’s just a gift. I like helping others. Some people aren't fortunate, and I just want to reach out and do what I can to help others,” Hall said.

Hall has been involved with the Azle Area Chamber of Commerce for 20 years as an ambassador. She currently serves on the board of directors for the chamber, and she is an officer for the Azle FFA Alumni & Supporters organization. Hall has also volunteered with the Azle Lions Club for 15 years and with Good N.E.W.S. for 12 years.

“(The Azle Lions Club) is geared toward serving the kids of Azle, whether they need backpacks for school, we raise money. Any money raised goes back to the kids of Azle, and we work with the school district on the kids that need help. (With Good N.E.W.S) I'll deliver bags to the elderly that are staying in their homes. (Both) the older generation and the younger generation need our help, and it just makes my heart happy while I'm able to help each one,” Hall said.

Hall is an active member of Silver Creek Methodist Church where she also volunteers, and she currently works at Fidelity National Title.

Volunteering in the community has inspired Hall to make a difference in people's lives.

“It just makes me want to be a better person. I just want to help others, and I hope I make a difference to the people I meet and the people I serve. I just love my community,” Hall said.

Hall enjoys the welcoming atmosphere of Azle and hopes to share that atmosphere with new people that join the community.

“The people of Azle are just welcoming. You may know somebody since you've lived here your whole life, and run into them at the grocery store, but then also with new people moving in, you want to welcome them. It's a great community and I want others to enjoy it as well,” Hall said.

When Hall is not working or serving the community, she enjoys spending time with her family on their family farm.
