The Azle Independent School District board of trustees will both lead the prayer and discuss its role in schools during the next board meeting Monday, Feb. 23.

Since Texas Senate Bill 11 was officially signed into law June 2025 — and became effective Sept. 2025 — school districts in the state have until March 1 to decide whether they wish to allow a dedicated time for voluntary student and staff prayer and Bible readings.

According to SB11, prayer times cannot replace instructional time and participation must be voluntary. Students may only participate with a signed consent form from their parents or guardians. Parents who do not wish for their children to participate in daily prayer periods will have to submit a waiver.
