The Azle High School boys and girls basketball teams were tested by both the weather and a demanding schedule last week, playing district games on back-to-back nights after an ice storm forced adjustments across the area.

Both teams were home Thursday night, Jan. 29, against the Saginaw Roughriders. In the girls’ matchup, the Lady Hornets kept things competitive early, but a tough third quarter proved decisive as Saginaw pulled away for a 55-30 win. Senior Keagan Stuart led Azle with 12 points.

In the nightcap, the Azle boys faced a Roughriders squad riding a three-game winning streak. Saginaw stayed hot, handing the Hornets a 65-49 home loss. Senior Bryce Robinson paced Azle with 12 points.
