After a midweek bye to reset for the stretch run, the Azle High School boys and girls basketball teams returned to district action Friday, Feb. 6, hosting the Brewer Bears in a pair of closely contested matchups.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Hornets battled the Lady Bears through four quarters, closing strong in the fourth to force overtime. Brewer, however, pulled away in the extra period to secure a 57-50 district win. Senior Keagan Stuart led Azle in scoring with 14 points in the loss.
In the boys’ game, the Hornets were looking to complete a season sweep of Brewer after an overtime win in January. This time, the Bears answered, edging Azle 47-43 in a defensive-minded contest.
