Azle Cheer disqualified at UCA Nationals after rule discrepancy
Azle High School Cheer and Hornet Muscle earned the silver medal in the Texas UIL competition, but were disqualified Saturday, Feb. 7 when they competed in the University Scholastic Association national competition at Disney World.

Azle High School Cheer and Hornet Muscle saw a strong national performance end in disappointment Saturday, Feb. 7, at the UCA National Cheerleading Championship at Disney World in Florida.

Following their routine, Azle sat in second place in the standings when officials were notified of a potential eligibility issue involving two athletes. A report was submitted claiming the two athletes had also competed earlier this season on Azle’s JV cheer team at an NCA event.

Azle cheer head coach Taylor Hodges said in a message sent to parents the program had taken steps to ensure compliance prior to nationals. According to Hodges, she confirmed with the National Cheerleaders Association that the athletes were cleared to compete under NCA rules.
