A Springtown resident is facing multiple charges stemming from a fatal collision that left two people dead and two others seriously injured last year on Farm-to-Market Road 730 South in Azle.

According to a press release issued by the Azle Police Department, Tammy Jo Lawrence, 48, has been charged with two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter and two counts of Intoxication Assault.

Lawrence turned herself in Friday, Feb. 13, after being notified that warrants had been issued for her arrest. She was transported to the Parker County Jail.

The charges stem from a five-vehicle crash that occurred shortly after noon Sept. 23, 2025, in the 13000 block of FM 730 South.

At the time of the accident, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the two deceased people as 73-year-old Johna Estes Wicker and 67-year-old Robert Edwin Anness. Officials stated that one of the victims was the driver of a southbound vehicle; the other was a passenger in a northbound vehicle. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident after life-saving measures were performed by first responders.

Several other injured individuals were transported to area hospitals, as well.

A press release issued by the APD last year explained that a northbound vehicle veered into oncoming traffic where it hit two vehicles. Two additional vehicles were involved secondary to the initial crash.

FM 730 S. was shut down to all traffic for almost five hours as the Tarrant County Traffic Investigation Unit assisted Azle police in investigating the incident.
