First-year head softball coach Tiffany Thayer instructs her players in her first home game.

A chilly, rain-soaked Tuesday night cut short what had shaped up to be a fresh start for Azle softball.

The Lady Hornets’ home game against the Joshua Owls Feb. 10 was called in the second inning as steady rain made field conditions unplayable, forcing officials to suspend the contest before it could fully unfold.

The abbreviated night marked the home debut for first-year head coach Tiffany Thayer, who is guiding the Lady Hornets in her inaugural season at Azle. Despite the early ending, Thayer’s presence signals a new chapter for the program.
