Winter guard earns bronze at WGI Regional, sets sights on Dayton
The Azle Cadets are a group of beginners preparing to join the Azle High School winter guard in years to come.

After finishing first-place three weeks earlier at the North Texas Color Guard Association Red Oak contest, the Azle High School Varsity Winter guard continued its momentum with a bronze-medal performance at the Winter Guard International Regional Competition in Lewisville.

The competition featured 28 teams in the Scholastic A Class preliminaries, with 15 advancing to finals. Azle advanced and earned third place Saturday, Feb. 15, finishing behind strong programs from Wylie and Class 6A powerhouse Frisco Rock Hill during the Chisholm Trail NTCA event.

WGI serves as the premier national and international organization for this activity with local, state, regional and power regional contests all culminating at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, in April — the ultimate goal for programs across the country.
