While it normally doesn’t take authors a full 45 years to write a novel, David Perkins is proving that when it comes to Texas, everything truly is bigger — even the writing process.

Perkins, an Azle native, just published his first crime novel, “Cleanin’ Up,” and his journey from the drafting table to publication has been one for the books — pun intended.
