Azle freshman Jazmin Neri delivered a dazzling performance Thursday, Feb. 19, breaking a long-standing school record in the 3,200-meter run at the Decatur Eagle Relays.

Competing in the event for the first time, Neri crossed the finish line in 11:27.27, eclipsing the previous Azle record of 11:35.60 set in 1992 by Christina McCreary at the UIL State Track and Field Championships.

At the time, McCreary’s coach, Pam Ribble, praised the performance, saying, “She ran strong the whole way. She didn’t have any flaws.”
