The Azle Memorial Library has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Achievement of Excellence in Libraries Award. Each year, the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association recognizes libraries for outstanding service, innovation and programs that meet the needs of their communities. Of 516 public libraries in the state, the Azle Memorial Library is one of 101 libraries to earn the award, which puts it in the top 20% of all public libraries in the state.

“This award is recognition of libraries that go above and beyond and do more than just check out books, and that's it. There's quite a few criteria they want you to meet. When you do the application, out of all these criteria, list all your examples. They even have you include photos of examples. It was quite extensive, but it just shows that you're doing things to support your community in a variety of ways,” Library Director Curren McLane said.

Among all the criteria the library had to meet to apply for this award was serving underserved populations.
