The rainy weather may not have been ideal Saturday afternoon, but it didn’t stop grillmasters from showing up to cook some of the most delicious steaks and hot dogs at the Rotary Club of Azle’s third annual steak cookoff.
The all-day event — held Saturday, Feb. 7, in Lakeside — served as a hub for the Steak Cookoff Association, which hosts other cookoff events across the nation.
Every year, teams from all over the nation — and sometimes the world — come to the Azle area to attend the competition and try out different Texas restaurants before heading to the SCA World Championship the following week. Since this competition also serves as a qualifier for next year’s SCA World Championship, teams from Wisconsin, Ohio, Alaska, Tennessee, Arizona and even as far away as Australia made the trek to North Texas to put their grilling skills to the ultimate test.
