The Sanctuary City Council tackled a brief agenda in short order when it met Tuesday, March 3.
After moving the city’s annual audit to March 22, the council voted to cancel its May general election, since all candidates for seats on the council are running unopposed. Longtime former Mayor Cliff Scallan is the lone candidate for the mayoral seat. Nancy Cozad, the incumbent in Place 4, is running unopposed to retain her seat, as is Gil Valdez in Place 2.
But the topic of the evening centered around recent radar enforcement operations by the Reno Police Department within the Sanctuary city limits on State Highway 199. Summers and Alderman Robert Gunter said they have each had conversations with Reno officers after observing them pulling vehicles over within the Sanctuary city limits, asking them to refrain from doing so.
