The candidate filing period has officially closed for Pelican Bay City Council, with five candidates seeking election or re-election to the positions of mayor, Place 1 and Place 2 this May.
Mayor Tamra Olague — who has served as mayor since 2022 after first being elected to city council in 2021 in Place 5 — has filed for reelection. She faces a challenge from newcomer Adam Gashi, who spoke in an open forum March 10 about wishing to unite the community and “work together to solve the city’s problems.”
Place 2 incumbent Sara Gashi is also seeking re-election and will go head-to-head against challenger David Sloane, a write-in candidate for the position.
