Azle nonprofit organizations will soon be able to band together and develop innovative solutions to the city’s most pressing health concerns — ideas that could become reality through grant funding from Texas Health Resources.
For the first time since Texas Health’s Community Impact grant program was introduced in 2019, Azle’s zip code, 76020, has been identified as one of 32 priority areas across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. This means Azle is now classified as a high-need community and is eligible to receive grant funding based on data that was collected through the Community Health Needs Assessment.
“We serve 12 counties with 400-plus zip codes, so what Texas Health did is they really leaned on their Community Health Needs Assessment, which collects the data and goes into identifying our priority needs in the communities that we serve,” Senior Director of Community Health Improvement Marsha Ingle said. “From there, some of those zip codes really stood out. Once you collect the data, it really shows you, ‘What are the problems?’ ‘Where do the problems exist?’ and ‘What zip code has greater needs than other zip codes?’ and that is how we target our funding.”
