SOCCER
The Lady Hornet varsity soccer team secured a playoff spot and had a chance to win a district championship Friday night, March 13. Unfortunately for the Lady Hornets, they dropped a 2-0 decision to Aledo.
The Lady Hornet JV soccer team also played Aledo to a 0-0 score — in JV soccer they don’t continue with a shootout.
The Hornet varsity soccer team wrapped up the 2026 season with a 6-1 loss to Aledo. Scoring for the Hornets was Miguel Maldonado with an assist from River Allen. The Hornet JV soccer team also were locked in a fierce battle with Aledo but fell 6-1.
SOFTBALL
The Lady Hornet varsity softball team won two district games last week. In the first game, against Saginaw, the Lady Hornets erupted for 16 runs and won 16-4. On Friday, March 13, at Jim Bob Nation’s Field Of Dreams, the Lady Hornets trounced Granbury 13-1.
BASEBALL
The Hornet varsity team beat Chisholm Trail 8-1. Martin Balderas pitched a complete game for the win. Balderas struck out three and only allowed one run. Garin Bissonette, Nolan Meitz and Hayden Harrison each had a hit, and Mason Holleman had three hits in the win. The Hornet varsity played Chisholm Trail again in the second game of the tournament, this time taking the loss 6-1. The Hornets rebounded by knocking off Burkburnett 16-6. Dual sport athlete Tyler Hicks hit a grand slam for the Hornets.
The Hornet JV Green team and Hornet JV White team both went 2-0 on the week.
TRACK AND FIELD
The Lady Hornet track and field teams competed in Aledo Thursday, March 12 and came away with multiple personal best performances highlighted by freshman Jazmin Neri when she broke the 3200-meter run with a 11:16.33. Addison Horner took second in the 400-meter dash, and Neri also took fourth in the 1600-meter run. The Lady Hornet varsity 4X100 relay placed third as did the 1600-meter relay team. In the field events Cameron Short placed third in the long jump and Tatyanna Gibson won the shot put with a toss of 33 feet, 3 inches.
The Hornet varsity boys track and field also ran in the Aledo Bearcat Relays Thursday, March 12. Senior Jakob Montelongo placed third in the 100-meter dash with an 11.3. The Hornet 4X100 relay placed third with a time of 43.71. Jase Lahue was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles while Brayden Combs took second in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump.
